Auroville Centre Fellowship

The Auroville Centre Fellowship (ACF) is an immersive, year-long opportunity for individuals from all walks of life to engage in transformative research, practice, and collaboration within Auroville — a living laboratory of human unity, integral education, and conscious living.

Rooted in the spiritual vision of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother, ACF invites passionate fellows to explore, contribute, and co-create alongside Aurovilians and aligned institutions. It is not merely a research program — it is a lived inquiry, where inner development meets outer action.

Fellowship Tracks

The ACF offers four distinct tracks, each tailored to a unique profile and role within the ecosystem:

Research Fellows (RF)

Open to graduates, postgraduates, working professionals, sabbatical seekers, and independent researchers.
  • Duration: Minimum 1 year
  • Contribution Fee: ₹10,000/month (to ensure commitment and support the Centre's activities)
  • Thematic research, collaborative projects, tangible outputs (course, campaign, paper, prototype, event)
  • Support: Monthly orientation, mentorship from Auroville units, interdisciplinary collaboration
  • Flexibility: Major & minor Centre selection, cross-centre collaboration encouraged

Senior Fellows (SF)

Experienced individuals with leadership abilities, prior familiarity with Auroville and its vision.
  • Role: Guide and manage Research Fellows (10–20 per centre), lead projects, design programs, edit publications, and build partnerships
  • Compensation: Paid by the Auroville Centre (from the Contribution Pool)
  • Deliverables: Courses, events, publications, campaigns, and co-creation with Auroville units
  • Presence: Full-time in Auroville for the fellowship duration

Distinguished Fellows (DF)

Esteemed academics, professionals, and institutional collaborators.
  • Engagement: Part-time and periodic visits
  • Role: Mentor Senior Fellows, review outputs, connect institutions, contribute to vision building
  • Support: Logistics can be arranged by the Centre team
  • Advisory Role: Can serve on the ACF Advisory Board or thematic DF Circles

Honorary Fellows (HF)

Recognised thought leaders, visionaries, and changemakers who embody Auroville’s ideals.
  • Invitation Only: Conferred by the Auroville Centre as an honorary title
  • Role: Ambassadors of the Centre, keynote speakers, foreword contributors, advisors
  • Engagement: Annual visit (optional), ceremonial induction, symbolic role
